-MONDAY. FEBRUARY ldth. The Hoard met at 8.30 p.m. Present:—Messrs .1. J. Breeze (Chairman;, TV. Jeffries, G. Davidson, R. Meliarry, A. B. Spiers, M. Keenan and E. A. Wells. An apology was made Tor the absence of Mr .Morel. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD COR RESPONDENCK. From 1,. H. Blank, thanking Board for expression of sympathy.—Received. From Hospital Department notifying statement supplied was correct; that the election of the next Chairman would not take place till April. 1028.-/ Received. From Government Statistician in reference to returns received. —Received. From Department of Internal Affairs forwarding supply of lire hose.-—Re-ceived and considered very satisfactory. From Hospitals Association forwarding remits for annual conference. —Received. Air Jeffries intimated that though appointed as one of the delegates at the Conference on Alareli 2nd and following days he regretted he would be unable to represent the Board on that date. .Mr Davidson moved that the Chairman represent the Board together with the mover. Seconded by .Mr Jeffries and carried. The various remits were then discussed and delegates instructed what action to take thereon. >

From Hokitika Borough Council notifying it had been decided not to notify a member in succession to the late Afr Blank.--Received. From W. E. Evemlen. Kuniarn. Medical Association, forwarding 2 7 ■). half yearly fee.—Received. From West Coast Industrial Union ot Timber Workers suggesting that the Hoard agree to allow the Union the same terms as was allowed to Friendly Soicotics, the Union to guarantee payment of one-lmlf of the maintenance fees of members.—Received and resolved to grant the request.

From Nurse U. Fraser resigning position as probationer nurse.—Recciv ed am! accepted. From T. W. Bruce applying for annual leave.—Received and request granted.

From House Committee, reporting conditions very satisfactory at Westland Hospital.—Received. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT. We have the honour to report having met as a committee of town members on Saturday. January Util, at B.JO p.m. There were present Messrs Davidson. Jeffries and myself. We received one tender for the construction of the Okuru ambulance from -Messrs Wild and Ilassett for the sum ol Cl 7 10s. This we accepted. For the providing of motor conveyance of patients to the Westland Hospital we received one offer only, viz.. Newman Bros at Is fid per mile within a fi mile radius, and Is !)d per mile beyond the (5 miles radius. This we accepted for twelve months.—Received. From Surgeon-Superintendent Westland Hospital, reporting there were 37 patients on January Ist. Admitted during January 10 males, Ifi females. Total treated fJO males. 33 females—72. Discharged cured 11 males, 0 females, relieved 5 males. 8 females ; died 2 males. 2 females. Total discharged 18 males. I!) females—37. In hospital on .list January, 21 males. 1-1 females— Jo. In hospital for two months In.— Received. The Hoard rose at 0.30 p.m.
