COAL STRIKE. SYDNEY. Fehruarv 14

At a mass meeting of the coal miners at AAallsend and at Cessnock, on the Northern fields, the proposals of the Central Council of the -Miners’ Federation were rejected. The officials were severedv criticised for calling the men out before any aggregate meetings had been held.

Several other meetings on the northern fields agreed with the Council’s proposals. The Cessnock meeting was addresesd by an official of the Xew Zealand .Miners' Federation, who said that the Australian miners would he assured of support from the Xew Zealand miners, should they decide to take up the fight.

The vessel sailed for Auckland this morning. Arrived : Tofua from Apia.
