EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES
‘Hie beautiful cheat TO-N TCI I T.
Movie goers nro usually shy of attending motion picture, plays about tbo life of stars and producers—a result, no doubt, of the* propaganda plays which picture the actress as a sort of superlative angel not meant for this world. As a matter of fact the motion picture actress is no better than anyone else—and not worse, So wn,v shouldn't the trials and strivings ul an Metros# be just as good material for a play as those of a society girl or a shop girl? At the Princess Theatre is one of the most interestingly humorous pictures the movie world has ever made about itself. Laura La Plante is the star and to her goes much of the credit for making this such an entertaining picture. Miss La Plante gives one of the most charming and vivacious portrayals of her career in tbo title role of “The Beautiful Cheat,” a Universal-Jewel. Marry Myers, as the .star's press agent, does excellent work acting in every detail as a press agent should act. He proves himself as a master ol comedy. The story is a joyous one from beginning to end and lias more than its share of laughs. It is the story of a little shop girl taken from her niche by a movie producer, and sent abroad to bo proclaimed as it great Russian actress. The supporting cast does admirable work. Bertram Grassbv is a charming light-heavy. Alexander Carr, as the movie magnate, furnishes many laughs while that young Russian prince, Youcea Troubotzkoy. plays his second and biggest role, in American lilms with *a dashing sophistication. The others in the cast were well chosen. A good comedy and topical completes a. lino programme to-night. On Saturday U Paramount special will he presented entitled “A Sen ol His Father.”
