In the cricket match with Waikato, the Alelhotirnc team, which replied lo the home team’s first innings score of Ilf) with 395 for 9 wickets yesterday, carried the total to-day to 490 for nine wickets in the fifty minutes’ play before lunch. Warwick Armstrong advanced from 60 to 116 this morning, and T. G. Armstrong from 18 to 50. AIELBOURNF TKAAI WINS. HAAIILTON, February 10. The Alelbournc cricketers defeated Waikato by an innings and 376 runs. The visitors scored 580, Warwick Armstrong making 116 and T. G. Annstrong 89, not out. Waikatos second innings closed for 81 runs—Taylor 29. Ebliug took three wickets for seven runs Wood two wickets for ten runs ; and R.nndsford three wickets for eleven runs. QUEENSLAND’S BIG SCORE. BRISBANE, Feb. 9. In the Sheffield Shield match Queensland in the second innings made 261 for 6 wickets when stumps were drawn, R. Oxenhnm, retired 62. ITo was injured in t.ho wrisf. Knowles (not out) 58, Gill 40, Grant 36. ft is expected that Oxcnhain will he able to play to-morrow. The weather again was very hot. All the batsmen played confidently and runs came freely. Oxenhnm and Knowles played the howling with ease all round the wicket. BRISBANE, Feb. 9. Tn the Sheffield Shield match, Queensland in tho second innings made 439. R. Oxenhnm scored 72, Knowles 144, Alnyes (not out) 37. Tn the bowling Hendry tool: 3 for 51. Blackie 2 for 69. Oxenliam to-day hatted practically single-handed, owing to an injury to bis wrist received yesterday, but he played soundly despite the handicap. After passing the century in his first Sheffield Shield match, Knowles hit out •strongly, and frequently rattled the pickets. Blackie was unable io bowl owing to a strained left hand. With 753 necessary to win, Victoria opened their second .strike, Ponsftird and Hendry batting cautiously. BRISBANE, Feb. 10. Victoria 0 for 223 (Ponsford not out--114, Hendry not out 101. Stumps were drawn.
