POINTS OF DIFFERENCE. YVASHIXGTON, Feb. 10,
Great Britain and some other European Governments have replied to the United States proposal to enter a
World Court with reservations. The replies are substantially a rejection. The British answer follows generally the Geneva Conference counter reservations to the Senate reservations which President Coolidge and many senators believe are unacceptable. The Semite reservations would give the United States a veto power over any dispute presented to the Court in which United States has, or 'claims to have an interest. The counter reservations would give the United States equal power with the Council members in relati on to the Court, but whether the latter will now have a veto power is at present disputed. Reports of a revolutionary movement to overthrow the Government are prevalent in the eapital, following the issuance to the press of a fiery statement by the Minister of War. As President Coolidge announced he would not re-onen the subject if the Senate reservations for a World Court Protocol were not accepted without elm nee, the United States apparently stands definitely outside the tribunal Hence three Foreign Governments have advised the State Department of the decision to ask for a modification of the reservations, ft was ascertained to-dn" formal notification bad been read from Britain and two undisclosed nations. The Senate refused on the ground that it is necessary to take up a resolution promising tlmt the Senate’s ratifications of the Protocol be rescinded.
LEG ISLATION RF-INTRODUCED OTTAWA. February 9.
The Government has reintroduced !?he legislation for the establishment of rural credits, old age pension, penny post and the abolition of the stamp tax on receipts which legislation was cheeked when the Conseravtives temporarily drove the Liberals out of Power.
