A mild sensation, says the “Argus.” was created yesterday in town when it became known that the Greymouth Power Board’s staff of linesmen, numbering sixteen, had ceased work. The cause of the trouble appears to have been the sudden dismissal of a member of the staff of linesmen, concerning which they had, as a body, on Tuesday sent a letter to the Board indicating their attitude, of which yesterdav’s stoppage was the logical conclusion. The linesmen last evening had had no intimation from the Board. The Chairman (Mr .T. W. Greenslade) was yesterday out of town. The men declare the next move is up to the Board. No doubt the Board and the parties to the difference will go into the matter to-day, when it should be possible to effect a ready settlement.
