WELLINGTON, Feb. 9
The Government has received advice that the mail steamer Makurn with the Prime, Minister and Party «>»> board, is expected to arrive at Raratonga today. The Cook Islands’ Administration has arranged a reception for Mr Coates at Rarotonga which is the first New Zealand territory to be touched on the voyage from Mail Francisco. The Makura is due at AAV.lington on Monday morning.

ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION.
RARATONGA, Feb. 9
After many days of a tropical downpour of rain, tiro sun shone brightly at Raiatonga for the Prime Minister’s first landing in Now Zealand territory this morning, on his return from the Imperial Conference.
After official calls by the DeputyCommissioner (Mr Savage) and Administrative Officers, the distinguished Visitors were rowed ashore in an eightoared barge, and were enthusiastically welcomed hv a large concourse of both races. Brilliant coloured hibiscus and other tropical flowers, with patriotic flags made a vivid setting. Representatives of Ai'ikis, Matniapos and Bangitiris expressed unfeigned delight in welcoming Mr Contes again. Replying to the addresses of welcome Mr Coates read the King's message, acknowledging the loyal tribute of the Raratongan people, and expressing continued regard for them. Mr Coates expressed satisfaction with the Imperial Conference, which would oik banco the unity of all Empire peoples. Briefly dealing with commercial subjects. Mr Contes indicated that he was making every effort to increase the island trade, and referred to the resultin importance of fostering tropical agricultural study in New Zealand's pacific territories.
A motor excursion, a native feast and an afternoon reception completed a delightful day.
ROYAL VISIT PARTICIPANTS. Cook Islands participation in the approaching Royal visit consists of three reoresentative chiefs. They are travelling by the Mnkttra. MR COATES AT PAPEETE. At Papeete Mr Coates received a cordial welcome bv the Governor and British Consul. Fine weather was experienced for the trnns-Pncifie voyage. The party are all well.
