AEROPLANE COLLISION. PARIS, February 7. , Two French military aeroplanes collided at a high altitude at lieichenbtrg. One pilot descended saiely by _ the parachute, the other unaware he had lost the under-carriage, attempted to land and collided with a telegraph pole, completely smashing the machine. The pilot stepped qut of the' debris unscraiehed.
THE M.ERRETT TRIAL'.' LONDON, Feb. 7
At tlie Merrett trial, the Court raptly listened to the evidence of Dr Rosa that Sutheilaiul, on Ist. February, told rhim she saw deceased re--niove her false teeth and shoot herself in the presence of her son. Witness understood Sutherland saw deceased falling after the shot. Sutherland denied the false teeth statement. Professor Robertson, alienist, deposed tbe shot might affect deceased to the extent of rendering her subsequent statements unreliable. Sir Bernard Spilsbury said tlie accident theory could not be excluded. The ease was adjourned.

Marion Phillips, chief woman officer of the Labour Party, on behalf of the Industrial Women’s Organisations, has sent a letter to Premier Baldwin urging the early Introduction of the suffrage to women of twentv-one.

NOVEL CLIMAX. VIENNA. Feb. 7. There was a novel climax to the presentation of “Othello” at 1 a Budapest theatre, which resulted from Othello carelessly soiling Dc.sdcmona’s gown with blackened limbs and hands. Othello, irritated by a rebuke, treated Desdemona with unnecessary violence in the smothering scene, causing the heroine to jump up from the lied and < box Othello’s ears. Othello fell and Desdemona assumed a sparring attitude causing Othello to shout for the curtain. Thus far the.audience, who were not familiar with Shakespeare’s play, followed the happenings with unabat- » ed interest, but when Desdemona threw herself on the bed weeping and her real husband appeared on the stage to comfort her it was obvious that .something was wrong. The curtain was hurriedly lowered and the sequel was an action suing Othello for damages. but the judge secured a reconciliation. y RADIO FEAT. LONDON, February 7. An Essex wireless experimenter.
