UNUSUAL MOTOR SMASH.
HASTINGS'. February 7. A smash muled the joyride of two men on Te Ante road on Saturday night. One man was badly injured and the other decamped. The name of the injured man is believed to he -May, but the missiny mans’ name is unknown. The ear was a three-seater Oakland belonging to M,r A. Irwin, of Napier. It is alleged it was taken from a parking place in Napier. It finished its illicit spin over a hank near the Kennels, Pakipata. Two motorists arrived on the scene in time to see the missing man departing in haste, and leaving the injured accomplice behind. They brought May into Hastings, whence he was taken to the Napier hospital where he is now in a serious state and unable to give an account of the aeiedent. The car is hadlv wrecked.
