WATAROA SOCIAL

On February 2nd a social and pres- I dilation was tendered the local school teacher, Mr W. T. Church and his newly-wedded wife, at Wataroa Hall. The gathering proved a very enjoyable one and the hall was crowded. -Mr Jack Xisson had charge ol the floor and kept the dancers moving swittly. while -Miss Berry of Ilarihari supplied the music. Songs were rendered by .Messrs Cl. Tennent and Cllass. During the evening Mr T. -Mcliride (chairman of the School Committee) on behalf of the residents, presented -Mr and Mrs Church with a silver mounted tray and set. The Chairman in a neat speech outlined Mr Church’s sterling qualities and the keen interest he had taken in the children both in school and on the playground. Mr Church on behalf ol himself and Mrs Church thanked the residents for the valuable present, and said how pleased he was to know that his earnest efforts to educate their children were appreciated and stated he would endeavour to continue in the future as in the past. After “They Are Jolly Good Fellows ” was sung, dancing continued till an early hour in the morning.
