M©Heath took six wickets for 18. and llerdman 3 for 21. Requiring 91 to win. South Canterbury were dismissed for 71. Aloßeath made 23. Cunningham took 6 wickets lor 26, Talbot 3 for 27, Nixon 1 for 4. Canterbury won by 20 runs. H AAV ICE CUP MATCH. XEAV PLYMOUTH. February 3. The match for the Hawke Cup was commenced between Poverty Bay (challengers! and Taranaki (holders). Fine weather prevailed hut the wicket though dry was rather erumblev. The howlers maintained the upper hand throughout, the hatting of both teams being disappointing. Poverty Bay made 117 to which Taranaki replied with 105. Poverty Bay have two wickets down for 19 runs in the second innings. For Poverty Bay Bennett made 24. Moody 22, Scholium IS and Guthrie 10, Clarke taking 2 for 23. Cole 2 for 44, Gihliti 3 for 35. For Taranaki Kingston made 26, Grayson 21, Lash 11 and Cheevers 11. Bennett taking 6 for 50 and Lockett 4 for 18.
