APPOINTMENT OF THE BOARD

It so happened that all the gentlemen nominated by Dominion organisations for appointment to the hoard arc residents ol the North Island. In \ ieu of that fact Air Bollard stated that lie immediately brought the matter to his notice of Ins colleagues so that the question of the appointment of a resident of the South Island could be considered. Tt was decided that of two persons who could he nominated by the Minister, one would he a resident of the South Island. The appointment was offered to and accepted by Dr Horens, Dunedin, wlmso knowledge of all matters affecting health in its relation to town planning will he of great assistance to the hoard. “While the gentlemen nominated by
the various organisations arc in every case residents of the North Island, said Air Bollard, “it has at the same time to he remembered that they reprq.<<>lit their organisations as a whole and that their membership is of an impersonal nature, through it being the representation of the interests of their
representative organisations.” Air Bollard intimated that it was proposed to call a meeting of the hoard for February loth. ATennwhile copies of draft town planning regulations were being sent to the Alunieipal Conference, in order that an expression of its views might be obtained. It was considered desirable that an opportunity should he given to the conference, as being the representatives of that class of local hotly required by law o submit town planning schemes not later than the first day of January, 1930.
