[ 11Y TELEGRAPH —PHI! I’ll ESS ASSOCIATION.] HOBART Feb. 3. Tlio 440 yards swimming championship of Australia resulted : Jones (West Australia) 1, Grier (Queensland) 2. Moore (Tahmania) 3. Won on u touch. Time five minutes twenty-four two-fifths seconds. RECORD BROKEN. HASTINGS. Feb. 3. The New Zealand swimming record for 220 yards was broken by D. P. Lindsay, of Christchurch at Maddison Baths last night his time being two minutes thirty and four-fifths seconds. The time, however, was unofficial.
