Vereoc (Blenheim) 9.3 of ten three-minute rounds, for a purse of £SO. Black’s clean hitting and excellent footwork cnalMed him to pile up a heavy margin of points in the earlier rounds. Halfway through it. was obvious that V ercoe’s only hope lay in the knock-out route, but it didn’t come off, although in the final round Ik* had his opponent going. The verdict was for Black and was a popular one. Amongst the amateur bouts, Gerald Evatt, 11.0 (New Zealand light heavyweight champion) met Los Hewittson, of Flat Creek. 10.10. Hewittson did remarkably "ell. though not of his opponent’s calibre and showed much promise. Stone, 9.9 a AVellington man with an extraordinary reach, had no difficulty in accounting for Angus Smith (Blenheim) 9.9 who could not get to close quarters. Len Turner 11.3 of Flat Creek, met Irwin (Welliuton) 10.5. The former’s advantage in weight and remarkable vigour allowed him to win all the way in a cyclonic fight. NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 30. In what is considered to ho the finest exhibition of boxing ever seen in Taranaki, Dick Loveridge (Now Plymouth a verdict on points last night over Salvino Jamito, in a fifteen round lightweight contest. The fight was fast and interesting from the start to the finish, culminating in a thrilling final round, in which the spectators were brought to their feet with excitement. SYDNEY, January 30. Tn their boxing contest at the Stadium Joe Hall defeated Johnny Reisler. Both are Americans. Hall won on points. He had the advantage all through and showed himself much the superior boxer.
