.PRESENT POSITION. GISBORNE. Jan. 28. Steps to be taken when the patches oil the bull are made fully effective are indefinite, but meanwhile the bulkhead between Number Three bold and the engine room is being reinforced and doubtless similar steps will bo taken with tbe bulk-heads between Numbers One and Three and between Numbers Two and Three. When the level oi the water has been sufficiently lowered the vessel will bo taken to Auckland fur dry docking probably, anti temporary repairs strong enough to withstand the strain of a trip from Gisborne to the northern port. Shipping men doubt whether she will be able to leave the roadstead until patching on the outside hack and .something substantial on the inside of the hn'i. Alpamvhile the situation will lie complicated seriously if bad weather -uiiorvoirs. No arrangement lias been made as yet with regard to the further removal of the cargo, though it is likely that a, considerable quantity will have to be brought, ashore to tree the hold space for salvage work.
