TRAMWAY MANAGER'S COMMISSION.

WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. Mr Cable, tramways manager in Wellington, is in receipt of news from 'Gjasgow that Air Dalryniple, probably the most noted tramway manager in * the world, and the man who made the Glasgow system a model for all the world to follow, has resigned that position in order to accept an organising (xisitioii in a. large South American citv (probably Buenos Ayres) at n salary of £3090 a month. The announcement came like a bombshell. after a series of incidents in connection with this officer and his resignation as far hack as November 1 7th. Mr Dalryniple had intimated to the Tramwavs Committee that he was prepared to resign, and two days later forwarded his resignation to the Town Clerk. It was not until the following Saturday (November 21st.) that he received an urgent telegram in French asking him to meet certain persons in Paris. Later, a' firm.of bankers wrote ...king him to accede to the request, and he made a week-end trip to Paris, met the emissary from South America, and undertook to cross tile Atlantic at a salary of £3OOO a month for a period of at least three months. He was to have left Southampton on January 14th. to take up his new duties. Previously, Mr Dalrymple’s services had tx>en loaned to Chicago and Bombay, whilst he recently attended the International Tramways Conference at Barcelona, in Spain.
