AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES.

THE FOOL to-night

Just when powerful newspapers, oloqunt puhlie lenders and thoughtful persons are agitating fervidly about the coarse plays which some producers have put. forward as “ What the public wants,” William Fox comes forward with a Jilm version of ('banning .Pollock’s intense drama “ The Fool,” and relates every argument ever advanced in favour of the risque drama. Large and enthusiastic audiences in New Zealand prove that moral, uplifting, yet spectacularly dramatic plays meet the popular demand. No more powerful contradiction could lie found, nor more convincing endorsement of the innate purity of the public mind lie provided, for the C'lianning Pollock play is a pictorial dramatic message, with the stellar role that of a young curate. During the first seven months of the run in New York, the author received S,OOO letters from men and women who had seen the play, enjoyed it and been uplifted by the noble treatmem of the splendid theme. One letter was from a minister who enclosed Ids photograph : said that he had been a minister of the gospel for sixteen years ; was happy in a fine ehurcih ill a large city, hut That lie saw such a far-reaching opportunity for good that ho would he grateful for ail opportunity to make a stage debut in i.Tio part of Daniel Gilchrist in one of the smaller companies at a modest salary.”

“ I realized that Air Fox could do that through his world-girdling organisation,” said the author, “ and when he suggested that he would east Edmund Lowe for the stellar role, T believed that a line thing had been suggested. We reached 0,000,000 with our stage presentations and 1 believe that Mr Fox will reach six times as many with his line film versions.”

A Topical and two-reel comedy will also be shown. Miss Williams* orchestra will plav the incidental score for this fine programme.
