ROYAL HONOURS. OTTAWA, Jan. 19.
Speaking at a banquet at Toronto to retiring Lieut.-Governor Coekshutt, the Premier, Mr Ferguson, advocated lifting the ban on the granting of titles to Canadians. He said he hoped that the Ottawa Government would see that the “defect whereby Canadians are ineligible for Royal honours” was remedied.

HALIFAX (X. Scotia). Jan. T 9.
A bye-election was held for the Antigonish and Guysborough Constituency in the Feedral House of Commons to fill the vacancy caused by the death of a Conservative memlier, Air AVillinm Duff. The election resulted in the Liberal candidate being returned over bis Conservative opponent.
MAORI FOOTBALLERS. ST. JOHNS. (New Brunswick) Jan. 19. Twenty-nine members of the Afnori Rugby Football team have arrived here.
