The Wataroa Hall was filled to the door on 12th inst to receive Mr Fred Smith's Jazramba Band and a very fine
programme was given. Dancing was continued to an early hour in the morning; and the travellers were very pleased haying a very nice house. The party holies to again return at a future date as they appreciated the country life and the scenery in South Westland.
.Messrs Ikilgety and Co spent the week end at Wataroa :u compnnied by -Mr George Ferguson, of Sheffield, Canterbury. looking over and purchasing lat ami forward lambs for transit to Canterbury. They secured something over three thousand lambs at Wataroa and intend sending them to the rail head at Ross by motor lorry. The price, paid for lambs was satisfactory to the grower, the purchaser taking delivery of tin l lambs in the paddock, and some credit is due to Messrs Lhdgcty and Co's auctioneer, Mr McQueen, for
endeavouring to assist the farmers. ill placing a hnycr at their door, where their stork could he viewed, divine hotli ih(> seller and the buyer satisfaction. The farmers in South 'Westland are commencing to again look cheery alter undergoing a very trying time, having experienced the very low prices ot wool, hut ter and stock, for a couple ol seasons. The farmers at Watnron wlio competed at the wool sales held in Christchurch on January fitli have llieii clip returns which show 12;]d and 13d of an average, which is a decided improvement and very re I resiling. Ilic butter recently sent to Lyttelton graded out at 03} points. Some credit is due to the factory manager, IMr Barrett, as manager of the furthest out factory from the rail head in Westland and when competing at the recent Dunedin Exhibition D r Barrett received an order of merit for the very fine hntler he placed in the Exhibition horn the Wataroa.
