Air E. Smith’s Jazramba Baud returned to Christchurch to-day after a very pleasant time of almost three weeks in the district. Last night they wound up with a very successful dance at Woodstock. The hand has been invited to return for the opening of the Alatainui Hall at Wataroa when completed. about April next. The members of the Band were delighted with the South Westland scenery, and spent a very delightful morning on the Franz Josef Glacier which they regard as a remarkable beauty spot.
A monster gala day is being arranged for February Kith on Cass Square m aid of All Saints Church building fund. Floral decorations and other blight displays will figure in the programme which is one of the most extensive to he submitted locally. Games of all kinds together with sports and amusements will he provided, so that a very popular outing will he provided. At night there will ho a novelty in an elocutionary and spelling lice competition at the Soldiers’ Hull where the day’s doings will be rounded off with a very pleasant evening’s entertainment.
