AMUSEMENTS.

TOWN HALL PICTURES. SATURDAY NIGHT. At the Town Hall on Saturday night the star picture will be ‘'The White Panther,” a thrilling tale of India with Rex (Snowy) Baker and a splendid cast. In tho far East, where there is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet, modesty consists in wearing at all time the yashmak or fac-o 'veil. Any part of the body may be exposed without shame ; but only the ■most abandoned of women would reveal mouth, nose and eyes to a total stranger. The absence of tho yashmak is in"Moslem countries, equivalent to "appearing on Fifth Avenue without any clothes at all. On this peculiar religious belief hinges the plot of ‘‘The White Panther.” a colorful picture of the unchanging East, produced by Phil Goldstono. /I'he story, one of love and adventure gives Baker many opportunities to justify his undisputed title as tho greatest living horseman and fencer. High lights of the production include a lance tournament on horseback, a sword duel on the dizzy verge of a sheer cliff, and a harem scene photographed in ono of California’s most famous Persinn gardens. It presents a refreshingly different romance of Oriental life. It is the first picture ever laid in Afghanistan, a country still semi-barbarous, where thrills and adventuro are the stuff of everyday living, where the inhabitants are considered the bravest, most treacherous, and most cruel race on earth. A topical budget, Pathe review, scenic and two reel comedy complete la full programme. First roll will commence at 8.30 p.m.
