THE ROYAL VISIT.
EX EC U TIV E Al-EETIN G. The Executive in connection with tho Royal visit to Hokitika in March met yesterday when matters in connection with the general arrangements were advanced considerably. There were piesent: The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry) in tbe eliair, Messrs W. Jeffries. County Chairman: J. J. Breeze, President West-land Hospital Board; G. A. Wood,
Chairman Harbour Board ; H. fewenev Chairman School Committee; A. A Andrewes, Town Clerk; R. J. I-vans County Clerk.
The outward correspondence arising out of the public meeting on the 10th. ult. was approved.
Front Department of Internal Affairs advising Air Sodden, M.P.. the Mayor and Town Clerk that the local subsidy in response to representations made had been increased to £SO £ for ,C.— Received with thanks.

GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS. It was resoled to declare tho day of the Royal visit a public holiday in tho town and country. The Mayor and Borough Councillors with tho Chairmen of all local bodies arc to-, attend at- the railway station on the arrival of the Royal party. Tho Mayoress to arrange for n bouquet to
he presented to TT.R.H. the Duchess of York. It is expected the decoration of tho Railway Station will lie arranged through the Railway Department.
An arch to he erected in Fitzherbert Street and another in Stafford Street on tbe route to Cass Square, where a platform will be erected for tbe Royal party, and an address on behalf of the community presented. The pavilion will be reserved for pioneers and elderly folk. Overseer Ciicstennan is to be in charge of the street decorations. An area will be roped off for the Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and Schools. The school children will bo marshalled in lines according to schools. Air E. Partridge, Rector of the District School, to be in chaigc. Teachers as
far as available to bo with their respective classes or schools.
Tho Band to be asked to be in attendance, and play selections while their Royal Highnesses are inspecting tho Guides, Scouts and Schools.
Arrangements to be made for the printing of the Address to the Duke md Duchess.
Consideration was given to the entertainment of the children. It was resolved to ask the Hokitika School Committee to take charge of the commissariat- arrangements on Cass Square. Refreshments will he provided for travelling country children on the ground at mid-day. and all children will bo treated during the afternoon. Hot tea will be provided for parents from tho country who bring their picnic baskets. In regard to transport, tbe Government- is limiting the children to travel to those of the third standard and upwards. It was decided to write all school committees and enquire tho number likely to be present, also what arrangements could be made by tho committee and parents for transport.
