THE KEY TO PROSPERITY.
“ We need industrial peace if we are to replace the waster ot war and to recover our former prosperity. Industrial conflict, like war. injures victors and vanquished alike. Owners and workers are alike poorer at the end of a long dispute, and the whole community suffers indirectly. The first concern of capitalists and trade union leaders ought to be the preservation of peace. There ought to be in their private discussions both friendliness and fiankness. Argument should be based oil facts verified by trained accountants employed by the respective groups ot leaders. On both sides you have able men who reach their positions because of their ability. Their talents should be employed in negotiation, and in all discussion it should be remembered that conflict will injure all conceivned. Good-will is essential to prosperity. Vie can only become a happy, prosperous nation if social peace prevails.”— Bishop Barnes.
