HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONDAY, JANUARY 10th

The Committee met at 7 p.m. Present—Messrs H. It. Sweney (Chairman), \V. F. Richards, T. Clarke,' -W. H. Shannon, 11.. F. Redder, W. blase-, ler, S. J. Preston and J. Coulson. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence npproved. INWA111) CORRFSPONDKNCE. From Mayor of Ross (S. P. Evans) agreeing to declare a- public holiday on excursion day.—Received. From Canterbury Education Hoard stating it was Kirranged for painting and renovation of dental clinic and attention to windows.—Received. From J. D. Lynch. Greymouth, stating the landlord of the hotel at Point Elizabeth would provide coppers, water and milk for whole party and assist as much as possible.—Received, with thanks.

The Secretary reported the school social had resulted in a profit of £2 19s, I(l.—Received as satisfactory. Arrangements in connection with the school excursion were discussed and arranged for. .Messrs Haseler and Conning were appointed collectors for the picnic fund.

The Visiting Committee (.Mr Conning) reported conditions satisfactory. The fencing was progressing satisfactorily.—Received. Messrs Redder and Richards were appointed visitors for next month. It was resolved that a further £5 bonus (making £10) be voted to the caretaker.

The Railway Department notified trains would be arranged to Rripahoc, Point Elizabeth, on Wednesday, February 2nd. Fares to be from .Ross 2s children, 2s 5d over 15, and 3s (id adults; from Ruatapu Is 9d, 2s Del. ajid ?.s 3d: Maiiuiui and Hokitika Is 7d, 2s, and 3s; Kailtinu and Arahura Is ad. Is 9d, 2s 9d : Arahura ls‘3d. Is 7d. and 2s -Id. —Received. The Committee rose, at 7.-10 p.m.
