Po'lico are searching for three men who stole a cash box containing about £SO by means of a trick from the tobacconist shop of Elizabeth Gentleman, 33, Bisbops-road, Bethnal Green, E.. last evening. The three men drove up in a motorcar. One of them smudged the window with sonic substance while ins confederates remained in a waiting far. BANGKOK, Nov. 22. National interest has been aroused in the north of Siam by the discovery in a teak forest ‘leased by the Borneo Company, Ltd., of Fenohurch-street, E.C., of a white elephant calf. The soothsayers and village head men escorted the baby as soon as it could travel to Chiengniai. the northern capital of Siam. Here it was received v.'th great ceremonial. Two elephants headed the profession: then came the baby, followed by thirteen other elephants. Music was supplied by gongs, drums, and reed organs. The hereditary prince of the province garlanded the baby, priests chanted prayers and piesented lustrnl water—all in accordance with ancient custom. Great crouds brought offerings of candles. sugar cane and the like.
