. LONDON, dan. 7. I he special correspondent on 11..M.5. Renown at sea, states the Duke of link, in a statement, > lid he had been deeply touched by the warmth ami spontaniety of the farewells at London and Portsmouth, as well as in tlio course of the railway journey, and lie regarded these demonstrations of friendship as the happiest auguries for the success of the visit to Australia and New Zealand, to which he was looking forward with most pleasurable anticipation. AT SEA. SYDNEY. Jan. 8. A message from HALS. Renown states their Highnesses were shown over the ship. A fine model of the Renown in the wardroom was the object of special attention. Roth are obviously at home afloat. The extreme comfort of the great battle cruiser was unaffected by a choppy sea.

MELBOURNE. Jan. 9
A wireless message from the "Renown” received this morning, states: “We ran out of a gale during Friday night with a few minor casualties sticii as lashings getting adrift, and some damage to the starboard cutter and the sounding boom. Saturday dawned fair with a following sea ami bright sun. Working parties were early on the job preparing tlio decks lor fairer weather.
1 lie Duke and Duchess of York promenaded throughout the morning, first on their own deck, and later oil the quarter deck, where they met and chatted with members of the staff and the officers of tlio ship.” ■‘ r l he Duke of York spent some time talking with Lord Cavan, who was on deck for the first time since embarkation. The Duchess and Lady Chvan meanwhile found plenty to interest them in the quarter (feck activities. The remainder of the royal staff are all enjoying weather improvement, and it is safe to prophesy that by the time of leaving Das Palmas, all the customary shipboard amenities will be in full swing, including a squash racquet court, deck games, and contests. The course, unfortunately, lies well off the Portuguese coast, preventing any sight °f r he attractive c-oa stl.il towns and cliffs there.”
