President Cooliclge was iloutcd in tbe House of Representatives when a coalition of Republicans and democrats passed an ninendnipnt to the Naval Rill appropriating two hundred thousand dollars for the construction of dirigibles, which will ultimately cost four million dollars. Tho President’s Budget message had advised that there should be a halt in tile construction of dirigibles. A CORN BORER. NEW YORK, Jan. 7. European corn borer which has spread to the Eastern States is causing consternation among farmers. It is now found in Illinois,* two hundred miles further west than last year, and threatens tremendous destruction through the middle west corn States.
