They are easily made and hard to keep—not to he intemperate. grasping, unkind, profane, bad-tempered, idle, selfish ; to be gentle, generous, patient, moderate in speech, calm industrious—to he all that is to he admired in the other fellow. And. above all, to steer clear of the shoals of calumny, and to he tolerant of all those who are not “even as you and T in worth and righteousness. It is well to make good resolutions, even though they stand much risk of breakage. They need not he trumpeted abroad in vain nride; silent resolutions are the best, for—“We live in deeds, not words . . . ■ He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest and acts the best,”
