ADOiNCTON STOCK SALES.

(By Telegraph,—Special to Guardian.)

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday : Store Sheep.—A medium yarding in this department and included quite a large proportion from the Chathams. There were very few wethers penned and only one small pen of store lambs. The first lot of this year made 20s 4d. The market showed an improvement all round. Two-tooth crossbred ewes 2(!s to 28s 9d, I alld (i tooth ditto .(Ghathams) in splendid order. 30s (id; best 2 tooth Chatham ewes to -'l2s 3d : best forward wethers to 22s (id; 2 tootli ditto 17s fid to 18s (id. There was a very keen demand throughout.

Store Cattle.—Comparatively a small entry and, as visual, mostly cows and nondesript lots. There was practically no quotable lines offering. Good young cows £3 10s to £4; other prices unaltered.

Fat Pigs. A small entry. Prices wore firmer all round. lor a moderate yarding of porkers the demand was keen. Light porkers 50s to sfis ; heavy 57s fkl to (58s (id ; average 7:,'d to Sid : light haveners £3 12s to £4; heavy £4 10s to £5: extra to Co 10s; average 7d to 7;,'d ; choppers £5 18s to £Bs sd.

Store Pigs.—Medium entry and keen competition. The yarding comprised all classes. Wcaners, 13s fid to 28s; small stores. 29s to 34.5; medium, 3fis to 42s ; large, to 525. Beef.—A fairly large yarding and included some excellent lines of steers. The market opened considerably easier than last week especially for the heavier class of steers. This, perhaps, was due to the fact that the butchers were still holding fair supplies. Steer beef in our opinion was decidedly easier throughout and any rough old cows were hard to sell but prime mediumweight steers and heifers did not show the same decline and as the sale progressed improved considerably. The total entry was 505. Prime steers £l3 to £l4 15s, extra to £lB 17s fid: medium CIO 10s to £l2 10s; others to £7 10s ; prime heifers £8 15s to £11; extra to £l2 17s fid ; medium £5 10s to £7 ss. Cows, prime £7 10s to £9 15s; extra to £l2. medium C 5 15s to £/ ; others to £3 13s. Mutton.—A very short yarding, practically all wethers. A fair proportion in this department comprised consignments from the 01 ]athams which wcue generally plain and hardly up to their usual standard. Butchers, we arc informed. were practically cut out at the abattoirs, consequently the market opened firmer than Inst week hv fully Is a head and improved as the sale progressed. prices in many cases being Is to 3s a head above opening rates. Taking it all round the market was quite Is to 3s above last week, this being more noticeable with wethers. Exporters operated only sparingly, prices evidently being above schedule rates. Lambs. —A very small yarding, including some excellent quality. Several Most Coast consignments met with a good sale. The market was about on a par with last week and we should say the average over-all prices would he up to Od per lb and in most cases well over schedule.
