WESTLAND TROTTING CLUB

ANNUAL FIXTURE. A VERY SUCCESSFUL ONE. The Wt.’stliind Trotting Club's annual meeting took place yesterday in perfect weather after a stormy night. There was a large attendance, an improvement on last year, the track was in good order though holding a little for the first couple of races, but the absence of dust more than made up for mint. The trotting was good and the races well contested, there being some line finishes. Speculation was brisk, Mr H. Lynch and his staff handling the sum of £6,853 10s lor the meeting as against £0,569 last year, an increase of £284) for the meeting. The Town Hand was present and enlivened the gathering with a pleasing programme. After the race for the Westland Club Handicap. the President (Mr l‘\ McGregor) complimented the winning owner driver (Mr •!. Simpson) on his success with Wineherry and Mr G. TV. Keller briefly followed and presented the Licensed Victuallers’ Silver Cup to him, hearty cheers being given. Mr Simpson briefly replied. The meeting went off very smoothly and there was no incident to mar a very successful gathering, the officials being all in their places and the afternoon passed off without it hitch, except 'that there was nearly half an hour lost in the lime-table for the day. Royal Review, Connie Audubon and Great Amazon led throughout, in the second round Comfort getting into fourth place but the race lay between the placed horses. At the back Royal Review broke and Great Amazon took the lead but Royal Review came again in the straight and won by two lengths with Collide Audubon a .further two lengths back and Comfort fourth six lengths away, the best of the field being almost distanced. Logan Way scr, Ynys Joy 3(iyds, Velocity 36yds, Scdmera 48yds. Connie Dillon took the lead from Audrey Dillon and Ynys Jo.v. Pavlova came fourth round the back and at the bend came away to win by two lengths with Sylvie Logan third two lengths away and Ynys Joy close up. Time 3.3 Tote £Bl3l. Merry Logan 24yds, Harina 30vds. Young Ivy 60yds. Turi hopped out to the front and led Lochree, Velocity and Peter Meet.
