[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] LEAGUE BEATEN. LONDON, Jan. 3. Lancashire beat tlio New Zealanders by 28 to 3. THE LEAGUE MATCH. LONDON. Jan. 3. The League match was played at. Leigh. Lancashire scored eight tries, two of which, were converted, and the New Zealanders one try. There wore six thousand spectators. Lancashire were superior in all departments, hut the goal kicking was poor. Tlio New Zealanders’ combination was defective, and they were also slow compared with their opponents. Davidson did not reproduce his form owing to an injured lag. The New Zealanders won the toss and gave Lancashire the first use of a strong breeze. Carr, Bittle and Eblaby scored tries in the first half ol which none were converted. Two penalties from favourable positions were also missed. Lancashire in the second half were better. Ellaby scored the most spectacular try of the day alter running seventy yards. Carr, ffrodsliaw. "Wood and Price also obtained tries, Caimoks and Carr converting one each. Herring scored alter one of New Zealand’s rare break-aways. The team was: Unity. Brown, Kirwnn, Davidson. Desmond. Delgrosso, Hall. Menzies, Parke*. Herring. Mason, 1 lioinas and Avery.
