To-day the Buller County Council is celebrating its golden jubilee. Messrs \V. .leffries (Chairman). Evans (Clerk), and Mill nor (Overseer) of the A\ cstland County Council left last night for Westport to attend the celebrations.
The body of (John Ciibbs, wbo was drowned while bathing in the Grey River at Hobson on Wednesday oftennoon, was discovered about lelt) p.m. yesterday by Messrs T rank Glen and Arthur Kvans near the Tip Head. It was recovered and taken to the morgue.

Since the (Jtira tunnel vas- opened on August lib. 1923. tho gross weight of the goods trains travelling through it from west to east has been 1,166,988 tons. A man named 11. Cooper, a milkman, residing at South Beach, had a narrow escape from losing his life on .Saturday evening. In crossing the road at Raroa. he was knocked down hv a motor ear driven by Doctor Booth, of Kumarn. lie was dragged some yards before falling clear of the ear. He was taken to the Grey Hospital where it. was found that he had sustained severe cuts oil Hies head and injuries to the ribs and hip.
