TROWERN V. PURDY. [nv telegraph —per press association-.] INVERCARGILL. September 29. ; Tliij iifteen-round professional box--1 ing contest to-night between Charlie Purdy and Reg. Trowern. for a purse of .£203 resulted in a points decision for Trowern. The fight opened tamely and at the end of the fourth .round, the boxers were warned bv tlie referee to make a fight of it. Thereafter the fight assumed a more serious aspect, , although Purdy was disinclined-to mix it. Trowern was the aggressor practically throughout and showed superiority in infighting. The decision was well received by a record house.
