DAIRY COMPANIES
Tho Dairy Industry Amendment Act. 11)26, recently passed by Parliament, contains important provisions regarding dairy companies. It is non- unlawful ior any dairy company to call itself a co-operative company unless it L actually registered iis such under .Part 111 of 'Luc Dairy industry Act, l!).!3. or unless it is actually entitled to be logistcred as such. At any time alter the first of April. 1927, the Registrar of Companies may call upon any dairy < • jmj tiny uiilawlally describing itself as co-operative lo change its name so as to- remove therefrom tinsignification that it is a co-operative dairy company, and such a company m.ust theieupoii y. ike the necessary stop under the Companies Act, 1903, to have its name altered accordingly. After the first of next April it shall be the duty of every company registered as (.'.-operative or entitled to be registered as co-operative or wrongly holding, itself out by its name to he en-operaLve. to furnish io every person (not being a shareholder of the company) engaged ill supplying milk or cream, to the company, a copy of every account, report, or balance sheet, which by virtue of its articles or otherwise l it is required to furnish to its shareholders; if a company fails to comply with this provision, the chairman and every director thereof shall be liable to a fine of £lO. Secretaries of all dairy companies should make themselves conversant with those new provisions
