(From a Correspondent). Mr (i. Scott-Bobertson of Hari Hari was here during the week end. Mr G. 3lorris and H. Ford paid a brief visit to Kanieri during the wcekeml. Miss f. Cox, Dental Dept. Education Board is at present inspecting in this district. M r W. Jeffries and Mr W. Milner returned from their South Westland tour during the week. Tlie need for better roads and a few bridges to help motor traffic 1 will evidently lie pushed forward as it is said the journey was very rough owing to stormy weather. Mr Rutherford,of Greymouth, was a visitor during the week. Mr Stan Allen, of Hari Hari, stayed during the week, lie having come from south where he was guide to Air Jeffries and party. Airs Clolier left on Tuesday for north and Christchurch to attend her brother’s wedding. Master W. V incent returned to Christchurch to resume his studies at tho Christchurch Boys’ High School. It is reported that J. Alcßride. our late storekeeper, has bought a farm aiul intends stopping in tile district. Mntninui and AVatnroa are going ahead even if the land belongs to a few. Eighty tons of fibre were sent away from Denneliy’s mill and 42 jons of butter from the factory last year. Also the amount of traffic on the road is increasing on account of the good condition in which the roads have been lately put, and the fine sporting and scenic attractions which the roads lend

A euchre tournament and dance was held here last Saturday, Air W. Vincent, Ist. gents; Mrs J. Donovan, Ist. ladies; being the sucessful players in the euchre. There was a fair crowd at the dance, about 14 couples. Dancing was carried on until 12 o’clock when all had to go home in a heavy rain which spoilt a good night’s enjoyment.
