TROUBLE IN CHINA
[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] CHINESE REPORT'S. PEKING, September 23. In a serious attempt to check the Reds, Sunehuanfang has commenced a drive alone. Northern reinforcements are being withheld for some inexplicable reason. Wupeilu is facing a crisis due to revolts of subordinates. The fall of Manehang is confirmed. Red attempts to buy the surrender of Wuchang have been unsuccessful and the siege continues. The remaining foreigners within are unharmed. A message from Ha a how states the vernacular press reports labour meetings are openly inciting aiiti-foreignisrn. Trade is at a standstill. Rumours of a revolution in Hong Kong are entirely unfounded, according to the British authorities at Shanghai, who characterise the report as ridiculous. A revolution in Hong Kong is , practically impossible. At most ft could be riots, which have not been reported here.
