IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association,! (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.i LONDON, Sept. 23. Emphasising that the opening of the lin pc, i,-i I Conference is expected io synchronise with tho launching of tho E.rnpire Marketing Board’s million .sterling scheme for advertising the ‘Empire, the “Daily News” political correspondent suggests this effort to focus Bn tish peoples’ attention oil tho Dominion might he stlengthened by partially o]>eniiig the Conference to tile press. It declares there is reason to believe tho British Government are not opposed to doing so. It is not contended that all sessions ought to he open, but there should not he a difficulty about the inaugural ami closing sessions. The newspaper urges other subjects might be openly debated. This would add fresh blood interest in the eyes of the nations of the world, instead of, as at present, bald communiques and flat, chilly, almost unreasonable reports.
