Getting Value For Expenditure. The new Minister for Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, has .already sounded a warning note regarding the necessity for some degree of caution, but with the unemployment problem and the incessant demand for public expenditure, it is almost impossible for the Government to keep a close fist on the purse, strings. What it is endeavouring to do is to see that the country gets value for its money, and Mr Williams has announced his intention to give a close eye to public buildings which have kept pace with the growth of the civil service.—Dannevirke “Evening News.”
