FURTHER SEARCH. BY TELEGItAPn MESS ASSN., COPYRIGHT WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. A meeting of the Cabinet was held this morning to discuss what should be done in regard to searching for the missing vessel. Following the meeting, a statement was made by the Minister of Marine (Hon. Mr Anderson) as follows: “The Marine Department

has had the tug Toia out for the past two days. She has not returned, nor has she wirelessed to-day. The Terawhiti, well provisioned, has been despatched from Wellington. The Nora Niven has been sent from Napier with instructions to make a thorough seaich in a southerly direction. One of the warships at present at Auckland has been instructed to proceed to the locality, anil from the north make a most minute search. Vessels approaching tho New Zealand coast have l>een communicated with. The Department is doing all possible to locate the vessel. Is addition, several steamers on the coast are taking part in the search under instructions from the Marine Department. As far as is known, the Tamaha City, of Newcastle, and the Kwimanaw are all actively searching for the missing Awarun. The Kaimanawtt left port last evening, hound for Lvttclton, and she reported tins morning that she had seen nothing of the AwanU, but was continuing the search.” It is stated that there lias been a heavy fall of snow at sea, lasting until this morning, and this has had the effect of milking the visibility very bad. , ——.
