Air McKenzie King (Liberal Leader) has been elected with a clear working maiority over the Conservatives. Air King is assured of the support of the Liberal Progressives, thus giving him a total of 126 to date, where of onlv 123 are needed for a major-
Morcovor. the Liberals would eer tainly command some votes from the other smaller groups. The Premier. Mr Mciglicn. was defeated in his own constituency by his former law partner, Air McPherson.
The Conservatives lost heavily in Ontario, the Liberals there gaining li scats.

The “Daily Telegraph” says: There is no Free Trade jiarty in Canada, hut only high and moderate tariff policies. This election is a victory for the'latter. but probably the ehioi factor in bringing (about the result was the feeling that the Liberals, with the solid backing of Quebec, are in a better position than the Conservatives at the end of the confusion, to give the country settled government for some years.
