The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. lion 11. Michel thanked members for re-election as Chairman during his absence at last meetingn. I XW.AR D CORE ESPOXDKXCE. From Controller and Auditor-General forwarding balance sheet certified to with an exception that the travelling expenses paid wore not the actual amounts incurred.—Received. From Canterbury Underwriters’ Association forwarding postal notes for expenses at Rnty’s fire.—Received. From Hokitika Borough Council ill reference to blocking of passages in Princess Theatre, stating the Inspector’s attention had been drawn thereto ; and that the. request for the lopping of trees on Cass Square had been referred to the Finance Committee to report. Received. From Christchurch Fire Board in reference to penalties for making malicious fire alarms.—Received. From Minister of Internal Affairs regretting inability tu alter the law in reference to giving of false fire alarms. —Received. I From same, approving of estimates lor the ensuing year.—Received. J From Mrs F. W. Thompson aeknow-! lodging letter of sympathy.-—Received. From Hospital Board, thanking the Board for sale of reel at nominal price. I —Received.
REPORTS. From Treasurer reporting receipts £l5O 7s 3d. payments £49 Bs, credit balance £132 17s 3d.—Received. SUPE W IXTFXDENT’S REPORT. From Superintendent Braddon as follows: I have the honor to report that since your last meeting, your Brigade, received two fire calls, tiie first was to a cottage in Fitzherbert Street, and the other an office in Hamilton Street. In both eases the outbreaks of fire were discovered at an early stage, and the fire loss on the buildings therefore was small, about £25. A body of Fire Police consisting of six men. viz., Messrs F. Orr. R. Lynn, T. Jirep-.0. F. CTiestermnn. J. Coulson. and W. Gaylpr. have been sworn in and provided with anil badges, which are to be worn at- all ■ fires. At their first meeting Mr J. Coulson was appointed Office.T-iii-C'harge. mid Mr W. Gaylor. Secretary. They were present at our last two turn. outs. From Secretary reporting there wore no discrepancies on the,.tell tale clock for the period.—Received as very satisfactory. —Received. Accounts amounting to £lO3 12s 7d were passed for payment. Thh meeting then concluded.
