Durand comes to tho cabin of .Molly Core, whore tlu; oil! is struggling with a decrepit oid horse. When Durand helps her, he is introduced to Molly’s invalid father, and hands him \a poster in answer to the old man’s question for his name.. Durand is ordered away, but ho. manages to leave some notes for the girl as a Moan.” In .a nearby town a family of emigrants arrive in a covered wagon and tire induced to carry a gold shipment to the railroad. Pete Carson gets wind of tlit! subterfuge, and sets upon the wagon killing all but the three children. Durand finds the ruins of the wagon, and tho dead bodies, which the children arc guarding. .Jimmy, tho eldest, shows Durand where the gold is hidden, and lie sets out with the box and the children to place them in tho care of Molly Core. The gold still remains 'at the cabin, and Durand is hold up by the posse which has been posted near tho house. 1 Iris freed by Jimmy, and lloes towards Oro Crande with the gold to deliver to Boyd, the owner. Tn town. Pete Carson’s gang is surprised in its robbery attempt, and in fleeing for safety. Do to Carson takes Boyd’s daughter and holds her las a shield against his pursuers’ bullets, as he darts into the opening of the mine. Durand arrives on the scene and after handing over the gold, volunteers to go after Carson. Using sheet iron as a shield, ho enters the mine month and heats Carson into submission, dragging hint out to ffiec Bovd and the crowd. When Durand gets Carson outside, the latter confesses it was he who held up the wagon and killed the occupants—amt under further prodding by Durand, Allison is revealed as his accomplice. Molly and Durand are re-united and his rj.ime cleared. A good comedy and topical will also l>e shown.
