PRAISE FOR THE MAORIS. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) PARIS, Sept. 13
The newspapers praise the Maoris, expressing the opinion that they are likely to worthily sustain the renown of the All Blacks and undoubtedly raise the standard of play in France. They emphasise that the Maoris scored the first try in four minutes and the second and third two minutes later. The critics were impressed by the splendid long kicking of Phillips. INVITATION DECLINED. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 14. New South Wales Rugby League has received a cable from the English Rugby League declining an invitation to send a representative touring team to Australia next season.
