AMERICAN ATTITUDE.
NEW YORK, September 11. The New York “Times’” Washington correspondent states reports from abroad indicate a conference of representatives of Britain. France. Japan and United States is contemplated for securing concerted action in China, as a result of the Wanhsion incident. Inquiries. however, elicited the information that the State Department knows nothing of such a plan. It is pointed out that United States will continue its policy of protecting lives and propertj' of its nationals in China, hut the Wnnhsein incident is considered a question of solely British concern. The State Department is still without confirmation concerning the report that two soldiers were wounded aboard the American destroyers at Hankow. The Department officials made it clear, however. that this would not he considered a deliberate action against the United States. Therefore it would not he judged sufficient cause for consideration of a joint policy contemplating reprisals against the Chinese warring factions.
