Afembers of the Wellington Fire Board were given a demonstration or. Thursday of a new spray nozzle. It is controlled hv a lever cook under the user’s arm and has a fitting taking a much smaller hose, giving greater mobility of action, using less water and causing less damage in case of incipient outbreaks. An outstanding feature is the provision of a steering wheel. The lever controls a series of outlets round the nozzle, forming a perfect nose clear of the main jet, and sufficiently dense to cleave a. way through smoke, allowing penetration to the seat of a fire. The nose does not lessen the pressure of the main jet appreciably. Used by itself it- will effectively souse a radius of thirty feet. The new nozzle is being provided on all Wellington city hoses.
