MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB
• A Committee meeting of the Hokitika .Miniature Rifle Club was held last evening in the County Chambers at 7.30 o’clock. Present:—Messrs Paterson (chair), Lynch, Gaylor, Sliarman and Baigent. Apology lor the absence of the President (Air D. J. Evans) was received. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. It was decided to hold teams competitions on the first Monday night in each month, the first competition to start on Sept. 30th 15)2(>. The prizes lor competition was decided to be a badge for each of the members of the winning team and wooden spoon lor Clio team with the lowest score. Tlie prizes to ho competed for every month. It was intimated that about eight teams would be competing and that teams wishing to compete should notify the Secretary in writing by not later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30th, 1926. A nomination fee of 5s per team is to he paid and this money will be spent on procuring the badges. The badge is to he worn by the winning members on their coats for one month and then handed in and competed for again. The badges will he suitably inscribed if possible with the Club’s initials. It was thought that the amount of the first nominations would be enough to pay for tlio five badges required and no further nomination fees would be required. A team is to consist of Jive members. After a long discussion it was resolved that the Committee could not undertake to form teams and this would have to he left in the hands of individual members to form what teams lliey desired, but every member of a team must be a financial member of the Club. Air Shannon was asked to draw up a set of Club rules to be submitted to the Committee for approval. The Secretary advised that the Greymonth Afiniaturo Rifle Club had asked for a match’ to he arranged and it was resolved to invite same down for a match on ATonday, September 20th. The question of lady members arose and was discussed at length but as it is not known how many ladies arc prepared to join the Club, it was resolved to ask all ladies interested to meet the Secretary and Committee at a meeting next Tuesday evening in the Soldiers’ Hall, when the whole question could he discussed fully. The Committee welcomes lady members and it is to he understood thatthe meeting is not a question of whether they will lie admitted, but it a great number offer to join, to discuss ways and means of accommodating them. It was resolved to hold a ball bub arrangements were held over for the present so that this could be discussed with the ladies on Tuesday night. This being tlio full business of lbmeeting it closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
