[BY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Sept. 6. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Hutt Valley Lands Settlement Amendment Bill, Local Bodies Loans Bill, Finance Bill, Dentists Amendment Bill, Main Highways Amendment, Bill, Waimakariri Biver Improvement Amendment Bill were read ja second time and put through their final stages and passed. Workers Compensation Amendment Bill and Education Amendment Bill were read a'second time and referred to a Committee. The Council adjourned at 5 P-in. until nexl day. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. Hon Downie Stewart made a statement on the subject of the Licensing Bill, during the course of which he said the Government proposed to drop the Bill this session but before Parliament nict again the Government would carefully review the whole question in light of the amendments put forward with the intention of introducing the Bill next session in the hope that finality would he reached. Rural Advances Bill, Bank of New Zealand Bill, Pensions Bill, Westport Harbour Bill passed all stages. Motor Omnibus Biil was brought down l>y the Governor-General’s message. ’ Hon Stewart indicated he hoped to complete the session by Friday next. The House rose at 11.30 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. .
