HIDDEN* GOLD. BERLIN, July 21. Six persons have been arrested on a charge of stealing part of the hoard of gold which Dr Prvm, head of the famous brass works at Stolberg, near Aix-la-Chapelle. is alleged to have honed in a forest belonging to the firm. It is stated that after the outbreak of tlie war Dr.Prym caused 1,400,000 gold m':irks (£70.000) in sovereigns, French 20 franc pieces, and German 10 and 20 mark pieces to he placed in 70 boxes and buried. His chief clerk and a forester were let into the secret of where the. treasure as hidden. For move than ten years the gold re mained under the earth, but at the end of 1925 Dr Prvm decided to dig it up. He found that several of the boxes had disappeared. Suspicion fell on the chief clerk and the forester, but. no steps were taken to arrest them. The firm may have decided to behave generously or it may have tried to hush up the matter, as is alleged, in order to prevent the story of the hidden treasure from reaching the ears of the taxation authorities. However that may he, no action was taken until the extraordinary story was published and the police arrested the chief clerk, the forester and four other persons and lodged them in prison at Aix-la-Chapelle. where they are awaiting trial.
