[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association ] SPAIN’S CLAIM. . GENEVA, Sept. 2. The Council of the League of Nations discussed Lord Cecil’s aineiidincn regarding the view that the Reorganisation Committee did its utmost to satisfy Spain. The delegates urged that this special mention of Spain’s claim necessitated the mention also of Poland’s and China’s claims.

Tho Chinese delegate declared that China reserved the right to claim a permanent seat. Senor Palacios, the Spanish delegate, demanded an explicit statement that the Reorganisation Committee was unable to accede to the Spanish demand for a permanent seat. Tho discussion, however, was then adjourned.

Senor Palacios, interviewed, said that lie regretted the lateness of tin convening of the Reorganisation Committee, ‘which gave Spain no time for consideration before the meeting of tho League Council, hut tile incident, ho said, was not yet closed. If the Reorganisation Committee recommended a course satisfying to Spain, the situation might he changed. Ootherwisc, it appeared to he a first-class burial of the Spanish claim. Spain, added Senor Palacios, v awaiting the League Council’s and the Assembly’s action' before making her next move.
