Burnett's Face Pirate Football Team will play a 9-stone local team on Cass Square to-morrow (Friday) afternoon at 3 p.m. The local team will be selected from School. Kiuis and Excelsiors. NELSON, Sept- 1. At Rugby this afternoon, AA’ellington colts defeated Nelson B. senior team by 18 to 14, after an interesting game, in which the visiting hacks proved too fast for the locals. The weather was fine, and the attendance fair for an off day. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 1. The rep. Rugby match. Southland v. South Canterbury, was played to-day in brilliant weather, before a large attendance, an interesting game ending in a win for the visitors by 24 to 14. Tries were scored for South Canterbury by Gerard (4), Ward, A. Lawson, and Afcßride. Strang converted two. For Southland, Lilley kicked two penalties, and converted a try, and Otxey and Malioney scored tries.
